Debut CD "Cool Water" "Cool Water" has been a long time in the making. As an independent artist, it's tough to drop a single large sum of money to spend a month in the studio and crank out a CD. So this project was a result of a smattering of studio sessions over the past 20 months. But what a fantastic adventure!
Of the 11 tracks on the CD , two of them (Coal Alley and Haunting Me) were written years ago and recorded on a demo CD while living in Boston. The rest of the songs had been written over a period of 4 years as I was moving from Boston to Washington DC, getting married, finding a job, and paying a mortgage. As I was deciding which songs I wanted to record, I wanted to make sure that this wasn't one of those CDs

where every song sounded the same. My influences are diverse, and I wanted to reflect that on the CD. I was banking on my playing style and my voice to be the glue that holds the diverse songs together. I think I've succeeded in doing that. A respected musician friend confirmed that hope: "[Mark's] songs hang together like paintings in an art gallery."
So, here it is, "Cool Water." I hope you find it as refreshing and satisfying as it was to create it! Enjoy a few clips from the CD.
